About Iolo
Broadcaster, naturalist, conservationist and writer, Iolo Williams is known to millions as a presenter of the BBC’s Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch. Born in Builth Wells and raised in the hills of mid-Wales beside Lake Vyrnwy, he has spent his whole life immersed in the natural world.
After a degree in ecology, Iolo spent nearly fifteen years with the RSPB as Species Officer for Wales, working to protect the country’s rarest breeding birds. That work drew him into broadcasting, and he has since made a string of acclaimed series — among them Iolo’s Natural History of Wales, Rugged Wales, Iolo’s Snowdonia and, most recently, Apple TV’s Iolo’s River Valleys — presenting in both English and Welsh.
A fluent Welsh speaker, author of several books on wild Wales, President of the Welsh Ornithological Society and a tireless campaigner against the persecution of birds of prey, Iolo has devoted more than thirty years to championing the natural world — with a warmth, humour and passion that are entirely his own.
The talk — Welsh Wildlife
Iolo Williams celebrates Welsh Wildlife, big and small. From the iconic red kite to our native daffodils, fungi to furry caterpillars and cave spiders to carnivorous plants. He’ll bring his own brand of humour and will look with optimism to recent colonisers and reintroductions.
A warm, funny and uplifting evening for photographers, nature lovers and families alike.
