Jane Lazenby is a professional fine art and equine photographer based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, and a lifelong artist who came to photography from a background in traditional painting. She combines a painter’s eye for light, narrative and composition with a deep knowledge of creative editing, blending the two into original, atmospheric fine-art pieces.

Teaching & Background
Jane holds a BA(Hons) in Fine Art and a qualification to teach adults in further education, and has spent decades as a professional artist and adult-education tutor before turning her attention fully to photography. That teaching heritage is at the heart of how she works today: she is a natural, encouraging instructor who enjoys helping photographers of every level get more from their cameras and their editing.
A multi-award-winning photographer with international recognition, she regularly presents to camera clubs across the UK and to groups around the world.
Skills & Style
Jane’s work is best known for its fine-art quality — the capture of light, the staging and styling, and the storytelling that runs through her images. Her subjects range from portraiture to her much-loved equine work, a natural extension of a lifelong obsession with horses. Whatever the subject, her signature is the same: an idea taken from conception through styling and creative editing to a finished, gallery-quality piece.
Awards & Recognition
Jane is a Fellow of the Master Photographers Association and holds the EFIAP distinction awarded by the Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique. She has been named a regional Fine Art and Equine Photographer of the Year by the Master Photographers Association, and her fine art has been exhibited internationally — including in London, New York and Dubai — with work featured in a Royal collection.
Her Photoshop Workshops
Alongside her photography, Jane teaches creative Photoshop and camera-craft skills, and runs her own online learning resource of editing tutorials on her website. For Newport Photographic Club she will deliver a live Photoshop workshop via Zoom on 8 June 2027 — a chance to develop your fine art photography and editing skills with an award-winning tutor.
