After 15 years meeting at the Baptist Church in Water Lane, the Newport Photographic Club is moving home to The Weston Building within the Harper Adams University complex.
Subject to the government lockdown rules, we hope to hold our meeting of June 22nd at The Weston Building in Edgmond, TF10 8NB.
The new facility provides a high-speed internet connection which will enable us to continue to deliver presentations from renowned guest speakers from around the world, while the 260 seat capacity lecture theatre will allow members the space to comfortably social distance.
Alastair gave us an excellent presentation earlier this season on how to put AV sequences together and gave us a preview for his submission for an AV Distinction at the DPAGB level. The adjudication has now taken place and club members will be delighted to hear that Alastair was awarded his distinction of DPAGB/AV. Congratulations!
With the publication of the roadmap out of Covid, there may be a possibility of meeting at the Baptist Hall from 21 June. There are a lot of ifs and buts involved with this, principally the requirement that the 4 criteria laid down by the government can be met at each of the preceding milestone points. However, working on the assumption that we will achieve the 21 June milestone the committee has opened discussions with the Church management on the feasibility of starting meetings from Tuesday 22 June. Of the 6 meetings on the programme after this date we would hope to have the competitions, the studio night and the AGM at the Hall. The speaker meeting would be held on Zoom and Maria is checking whether the Summer Social and Prize Giving can be held at Harper Adams University in July.
A further post will be added once the situation is a bit clearer.
